Aims and Objectives

(i).     To formulate a strategic roadmap towards reforming the Education Sector in Abia to ensure standards for a better quality education.

(ii).    To arrive at result-oriented policies that will adequately address the problems of Education in Abia, after due interaction with the Education operators, the government
        (at various levels), the private sector, donor agencies and the civil society; and to ensure strict implementation of such policies to produce desired results.

(iii).   To seek partnerships of development partners and the private sector in solving the multi-dimensional problems that inhibits growth and good academic performance in
         public schools in Abia.

(iv).    To ensure standards in the conduct of the affairs of the Education Ministry and in performing their supervisory roles in public and private schools.

(v).    To create partnerships between the Ministry, Federal Government Education Intervention Agencies, donor agencies and the civil society in making sure that
         intervention funds meant for Abia State are assessed on time without bottlenecks and such funds monitored to achieve desired results.

(vi).   To formulate and implement policies that will ensure standards that will be made compulsory for all State Government accredited private schools in Abia.

(vii).  To seek for ways of building capacities for the Ministry of Education in the State through partnerships, in the effort to re-position and reform the Education Sector in
         Abia.

(viii).  To set a uniformed curriculum and or alternatively compel private schools through appropriate legislation to seek approval of the Ministry in formulation of their academic
         curriculum/calendar  and ensure compliance by strict monitoring and sanctions.

(ix).   To chart a way forward for the needed review/re-structuring of the general Education Curriculum in Nigeria through concerned Federal Establishments in the Federal
         Ministry of Education (to be invited for the Summit), to ensure that the Nigerian Education curriculum will be restructured with necessary legislation in the
         National Assembly to address the present day challenges facing the Nation. There is massive unemployment among the youths; Nigerian Education Curriculum should be
         entrepreneur in nature to help address this national and societal problem as it aggravates the insecurity noticed today in all parts of the country.

(x).    To inaugurate a Steering Committee made up of participants cutting across all segments, for implementation of outcomes, further capacity building, evaluation and
         monitoring.

(xi).   To set an agenda for a bill to be sent to the State House of Assembly for a legislation, in order to legalize certain identified needed reforms, policies and or programs
         in chatting a new way forward for the Education Sector in Abia.

(xii).   To institutionalize this summit as a yearly event to serve as a medium for re- appraisal of the Education Sector within a particular year and then chat a way forward.
